You’re doing it all wrong
Don’t you just love it when someone tells you that you are doing it all wrong?
Over the last week or so I have seen a growing number of posts and articles about how people are doing GDPR all wrong and that emails going out are variously wrong, non-compliant or illegal.
Case in point: Last week I made final contact with those people who were still on my old database giving the opportunity to move with me (as you have) to a new list. I was told by one respondent that getting your list to reconsent was business suicide.
Yeah… thanks for that.
Nothing more helpful than being advised without warrant that the course of action you have evaluated and embarked upon is the wrong one. Especially after you have passed the point of no return.
Nobody likes to be told after the event that you’ve done it wrong.
Far better to know beforehand.
But it is only after you have taken action, shared an idea, presented a new product that the naysayers pop up and say nay!
So what can you do?
I struck up a conversation with someone at a networking breakfast recently and when I told them what I did the showed me their leaflet and asked me what I thought.
In my head, I immediately pick out a few ways that it could be improved but one thing I didn’t say was:
You’ve done it all wrong.
I congratulated them on taking action and producing something and asked if they were planning on running a new one. Only then did I share a couple of my observations.
Receiving a criticism on a leaflet that you have had designed, printed and distributed only to be told that it doesn’t work is not helpful.
Getting guidance from an expert or specialist before you start is.
So if you are planning a new campaign and want a second opinion or ideas before you commit time and money on production, why not give me a call?
If on the other hand, you have yet to take action on making sure your business is GDPR compliant you should check out the Digital Compliance Hub (https://digitalcompliancehub.co.uk) run by my buddy Mark, tell him I sent you. (Although with 3 days to go until the deadline you might struggle to get hold of him!)
Do you need to create powerful visual content that rises above the noise and gets your brand noticed? Perhaps I can help, get in touch and speak to me today.
